ATLANTA, June 22, 2010 – The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA), one of the leading forces in the hospitality industry, recently held its 2010 AAHOA Annual Convention & Trade Show at Navy Pier in Chicago, Ill. The elections for the open positions on the 2010 AAHOA Board of Directors were held on Saturday, June 19, and AAHOA members elected Mehul B. “Mike” Patel, CHA as the association’s newest Secretary. Prior to his election as Secretary, Mehul Patel served as North Texas Regional Director for AAHOA.

ATLANTA, June 11, 2010 – The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA), one of the nation’s largest associations of hotel owners, with 10,000 members who own 20,000 hotels, which is more than 40 percent of all hotels in the United States, applauds the decision of U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) to condemn the racial slurs made by South Carolina State Senator John “Jake” Knotts (R-Dist. 23) against Representative Nikki Haley, who is a candidate in the South Carolina gubernatorial race this fall. Congressman Wilson, a longtime supporter of AAHOA and the Indian American community, has also withdrawn his endorsement of Sen. Knotts.

Signed on March 4, 2010, this new law will establish a multi-million dollar advertising and educational campaign to promote the United States as a desirable international travel destination. In turn, the United States will be able to compete on the global stage for the billions of dollars that come with overseas travelers.

ATLANTA. February 27, 2010 – The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) will host a debate between the top candidates for the Governor’s seat in Georgia. The debate will be held at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 during the AAHOA North Georgia Regional Conference, which will be located at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga.

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. January 21, 2010 – In response to a Rally on the morning of January 19, in the Capitol Rotunda that had been organized by AAHOA (Asian American Hotel Owners Association), Governor Charlie Crist cleared his calendar and opened his Boardroom doors to meet with more than 100 AAHOA hoteliers, leaders of the National and Florida SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference), NABHOOD (National Association of Black Hotel Owners & Developers), and small business owners to address the unfair increases in fees and taxes in the State.

Atlanta, GA – On November 4, 2009, the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA), the world’s largest association of hotel owners, achieved a new milestone by registering more than 10,000 members who own 22,000 hotels, which is forty percent of all hotels in the United States. Recognized as the voice of hotel owners in the hospitality industry, AAHOA continues to stand firm for its members, and has taken a strong stance on important issues involving the online travel agencies (OTAs) that provide booking services for the industry.

ATLANTA. November 6, 2009 – AAHOA is pleased to announce it has surpassed its goal of reaching 10,000 members. This incredible milestone was achieved at the AAHOA Mid East Regional Conference on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 in Cherry Hill, N.J.

AAHOA has already seen encouraging returns after sending out Advance Copy registration info to various vendors for next year’s Annual Convention & Trade Show, which will be held June 16-19, 2010, at the Navy Pier Convention Center in Chicago.

Thanks to a very strong turnout from members of Congress, and also from AAHOA Board Members, Ambassadors and leaders from around the country, the AAHOA Congressional Day and Capitol Hill Reception was a tremendous success. This afternoon the Board of Directors of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) unanimously approved the endorsement and financial support of South Carolina State Rep. Nimrata “Nikki” Haley (R-Lexington) in her bid to become the next Governor of the state. Rep. Haley is seeking the Republican nomination in the upcoming primary race. She joins a slate of other high-profile GOP candidates, including a variety of elected and state officials with widespread name recognition, who have announced or are expected to compete in the primary for the gubernatorial election.
