With AAHOA members owning more than 12,000 franchised hotels and having long-term franchise agreements with their franchisors, fair franchising is the lifeblood of the association. In 1998, AAHOA first unveiled its Points of Fair Franchising. The Points were then substantially updated in 2006 to include a summary of each Point and the reasons why they are so important to the success of the relationship between a franchisee and franchisor within the hospitality industry. Specifically, the Points identify the terms and provisions that should be included in the franchise agreements and business practices of all franchisors to ensure that they are fair and balanced for the benefit of the franchising parties and the franchise systems overall. The effect and influence of these Points support AAHOA’s fair franchising efforts.
