Representing more than 8,300 members, AAHOA is one of the leading forces in the hospitality industry and one of the most powerful Asian American advocacy groups. Together the members own more than 20,000 hotels, which have one million rooms representing over 50 percent of the economy lodging properties and nearly 37 percent of all hotel properties in the United States. Of the hotels owned by AAHOA members, approximately 12,700 are franchised while 7,300 are independent. The market value of the properties owned by AAHOA members is estimated to be $29.9 billion in franchised properties and $8.1 billion in independent properties. AAHOA supports its members through educational programs, professional development, and advocacy in the legislature and hospitality industry. |

| THE PEOPLE: |
Mukesh J. Mowji is vice president of sales at LTX Corporation, a NASDAQ listed company. He and his family have been in the hotel business since 1969 and currently own and operate several franchised and independent motels in Alabama, California, and Florida. Mukesh is active in community service, humanitarian fundraising, and local and national non-profit organizations. He became AAHOA's chairman in March 2006 at the conclusion of AAHOA's Annual Convention. Fred Schwartz, president, was AAHOA’s executive director for four years before being named president in 2000. He has 28 years of hospitality experience, including managing the hotel program for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta. |
