Department of Labor Wage and Hour Audits

AAHOA has learned that the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has recently determined that the lodging industry is a “high risk” arena where violations of federal wage and hour laws are most likely to occur against industry employees. Plans by the DOL may be underway to conduct widespread audits of all U.S. hotels, motels, and resorts to investigate such violations, which could directly impact your businesses and your employees.

AAHOA is will continue to seek more information from the DOL regarding the audits and the potential impact on the lodging industry.  In the meantime, we strongly urge our members to comply with all current local and federal labor and wage laws and regulations as it pertains to your businesses.  The documents linked below under "Related Files" are aimed at providing members with useful materials and educational guidance related to audits.
