AAHOA's Certified Hotel Owners Program (CHO)

A MESSAGE FROM THE AAHOA BOARD

As AAHOA continues to grow in size, strength, and sophistication, those members who possess "cutting edge" skills, employ "best practice" techniques, and continually seek industry knowledge need to be publicly recognized. AIM's Certified Hotel Owners Program (CHO) distinguishes each graduate with a mark of excellence.

CHO offers a comprehensive educational approach to the training and development of AAHOA members in the fields of hotel management and small business ownership.

Completion of the CHO program culminates in the award of the prestigious CHO designation.

The AAHOA Board is proud to sponsor this innovative and exciting program for our members.

AIM Courses:

THE CERTIFIED HOTEL OWNERS PROGRAM (CHO)
CHO is an innovative professional development program for hotel owners offered by the AAHOA Institute of Management (AIM). Designed by AAHOA to recognize and certify the expertise of its member hotel owners, CHO is the first and only program of its kind in the country and is available completely free of charge to all AAHOA members and their families.

CHO is a focused eight (8)-module program providing technical instruction and professional insight to AAHOA owner's on both the day-to-day management of lodging operations and on the strategic management of hotel ownership. The program requires mastery of two levels of course content:

Level I:
Effectively Managing Hotel Operations
Level I is designed to increase an owner's operational effectiveness and includes four full-day workshops in Front Office Operations & Reservations; Housekeeping, Laundry, Engineering & Maintenance Operations; Human Resource Management; and The Laws of Innkeeping.

Level II:
Effectively Leading Hotel Operations
Level II is designed to increase an owner's leadership and off-premise management skills in four full-day workshops that include Hotel Accounting and Business Ownership Structure; Leadership; Technology for the Lodging Industry; and Hotel Sales, Marketing & Public Relations.

Upon completion of all eight modules, AIM offers CHO candidates (who have attended all eight modules) a full-day review course designed to prepare them for the CHO certification exam. Once certified, members are required to renew their certification every five years by attending and participating in professional development activities.

CHO 4x4
The new CHO 4X4 is an accelerated version of the formal 2-year CHO program. Under the 4X4 format, AAHOA members – anxious to gain recognition for their operational excellence – can complete the entire course work for the demanding and prestigious CHO designation in less than one year.
