Louisiana Council Reconsiders Sales and Occupancy Tax Hike

Recently, in St. Landry Parish, La., a proposed 1-cent sales and occupancy tax ordinance for hotels and motels failed. AAHOA sent a letter to members of the St. Landry Parish Council expressing concern over the proposed tax increase. After commission members met with members of the hotel community, Buddy Helton, commission chairman for the Central St. Landry Economic District, asked the council to withdraw the ordinance. Read more on this issue.
