As a second-generation hotel owner in Sarasota, Bharat Patel shared the need to hire more front desk staff and housekeepers to keep up with this summer's traveling demand. “Rates are through the roof. People want to travel. And so instead of going abroad - they're really enjoying the beaches and the national parks and state parks. And, you know, people just want to get out,” said AAHOA Vice Chairman Bharat Patel. To attract the workers he needs, Patel is boosting wages at his hotel properties. Average wages in April were up 5.5% from a year ago, helping employees make wage gains in high-demand industries like hospitality.
