This week, Mid South Regional Director Harikrishna (HK) Patel and ten AAHOA Members had a chance to meet with Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and discuss issues impacting hoteliers. Governor Beshear heard how the labor shortage continues to affect hoteliers in his state, where AAHOA Members own 68.2% of the hotels.
AAHOA’s fair franchising efforts were also another timely topic of discussion. Earlier in the day, the New Jersey lawmakers voted in favor of legislation to help restore balance to the relationship between hotel Franchisors and Franchisees. Regional Director Patel and Kentucky members shared the great news out of New Jersey with Governor Beshear. AAHOA Members create nearly 50,000 jobs in Kentucky and contribute $3.1 billion to the state GDP. They’re on the front lines of the hospitality industry, and making Governor Beshear aware of the opportunities and challenges ensures hotel owners can thrive in Kentucky.
“We're building bridges at the local and state level and are grateful that Governor Beshear took the time to talk to us and understand these issues,” Patel said.
